taking the rocky road out of town
she walked casually into the room
two oversize scoops atop a sugar cone
and as her eyes caught mine
she suddenly froze
I sensed small wisps of steam
hovering above the dark chocolate
assorted nuts and marshmallows
winking
she extended her arm
as if holding a microphone
and for a brief moment
found myself unable to speak
youβre funny she said
pulling back her arm
turning around and kicking one leg back
suddenly vanishing before my eyes
laughing and licking
right out of dodge
april two thousand fifteen

ya gotta love some rocky road π
indeed, my friend, indeed
I really enjoyed this poem, Matthew. You created such a vivid, sensory scene … love the play on word in the title, too π
Thanks so much for your comments, Loredana – glad you enjoyed this playful poem.
