Paraphrasing

How can you possibly start a poem now
all things considered

It’s true the world is always near the end
but you stay because you simply
have to see it for yourself

Frost himself spoke of starting a journey
having no idea where it would take him

And so here we are just as we’ve
always been
always changing & always finding
new kinds of rhymes & words
in the shadiest of places

You collect them over a lifetime
and you take them with you
