I would like to be
who I once was when
the world was less complicated
but I know the world
has always been complicated
and I just didn’t know it
at the time
so I say
I would like to be who I once was
when I didn’t know
the world was complicated
—and death was just something
that happened to other people
whether they be good
people or bad
