daffodils of another color
on the last day of february
I saw daffodils abloom
in the woods
wanting nothing in return
they were there for the taking
I paused & for a moment
studied them in earnest
at their delicacy
& their modesty
proceeding to carry them with me
in mind only
throughout the remainder of the day
february two thousand twenty-five

Love this, John Our daffs are in bloom…the only ones I pick are the ones Theo knocks over. I’d rather see them out in the garden.
Our tulip tree may be in bloom by Mon…if it doesn’t get nipped by the cold Sun nite.
I’ve never heard of a tulip tree; I’ll have to google it!
Ours is actually a tulip magnolia. Pretty common in the South, blooms pink or light purple in very early Spring – so early, it often gets bit back from frost. There is a tulip tree, a type of poplar maybe. It is a fast growing large tree with large yellow blooms in the summer.
The photo on the heading of my blog is our tulip tree.
Very cool, Kathleen!
