espionage & assassinations

some men are much too dangerous
to live past their prime

and so they are taken out
as if in the ordinary course of business

anger and sadness ensues
followed by collective complacency

conspiracy theories evolve & entwine
but slowly fade from view

meanwhile life must go on
lessons still taught but rarely retained

lost in the woods

I’ve become lost again
like a little lamb
abandoned
in a nursery rhyme
left to fend for himself
far away from grassy fields
and peoples
of various dreams

It’s not the first time
and mostly likely
not the last
but now there’s
a new feeling
from understanding
I’m not learning
from prior mistakes

lessons to be learned

enormous yellow bus
makes historic stop
at the corner of oak
and every avenue

daddy holds his little girl’s
hand as the two of them
stand speechless staring
at the flashing stop sign

the door swings open
and curious feet disappear
into a swarming world
of pushing and pulling
