existing in the liminal

though spreading out
a huge set of wings
they downplay

such power
whether by an angel
or dragonfly

to most its display
is unnoticeable
something perhaps
existing in the liminal

what you witness
by sight or sound or sense
isn’t necessarily
physical

and what one visualizes
be it eerie or uncanny
or unbelievable
may one day return
to haunt or spurn
the most unsusceptible

earth’s rotation

venetian blinds
only slightly open
like little squinty eyes
keeping sights & sounds
in & out of focus
letting in a little daylight
or a little nightlife
depending upon one’s
changing perspective

third eye creation

three grapefruit
two apples
one pear

I sit in silence
pretending they are not
placed inside
a wicker basket
atop the kitchen counter

I relax & close my eyes
visualizing them via
my sixth chakra
silently repeating the chant
until the still life
becomes a painting
hanging on the wall
behind me

museum piece

she sat staring at the painting
for hours on end
sitting in silence in disbelief
convinced the woman dressed in white
sitting on the red cushioned bench and observing
the painting on the museum wall
had not existed upon her last visit

the obstruction

he ran a micro-computer
in a place he rented on prairie drive
not far from the college where he taught
the mysteries of dark matter

in the backyard he built a lighthouse
producing its own energy
a bright luminescence
dominating the neighborhood
post-dusk to pre-dawn

eventually the authorities
demanded its removal due to
violation of some city code
to which he responded
the structure & its energy
are merely delusional

A cat sits on his pillow at the picture window

Looking outside for hours at a time
he doesn’t understand
what’s happening in Gaza
let alone the entire Canaan territories
he only sees the alien cat colony growing
centrally situated kitty corner from his gaze
seemingly expanding day by day
a band slowly working its way
north by northeast toward Lebanon
