poetry by j matthew waters

without a wish

the river ran dry
the year of the drought
collapsing the water table
atop its own legs

the wishing well closed
from lack of moisture
turning back all the day dreamers
hoping for change

september two thousand twelve

  1. Hope the river of your words doesn’t ever run dry..

  2. Lovely piece. This year, the pool in our beautiful woods almost disappeared – so much so, that the fish had to be taken somewhere else. It was great when I wandered up there one day, to find the water back again – a wish made and met x

  3. Thank you, Julia. Glad to hear your wish came true! 🙂
