those shoes
she wore them only
on special occasions
and every time I saw them
I just wanted to slip them off her feet
and take her upstairs
but alas that was just a wish
and we paraded into town
high heels and all
the center of attention
every place we ventured
wickedly well rested
we danced into the night
tearing down disco walls
and cutting beale street rugs
deep inside memphis
august two thousand thirteen

This poem has such young vibe to it! But using “disco” seems so 80’s! I guess 80’s young! Thank you Matthew for the poem đŸ˜‰
this is true but then again memphis is so much older than the nineteen eighties ;`)
I already commented via twitter but reading the full poem is even better!
glad you liked this one and thanks so much for stopping by for the rest of the poem ;`)
You are into women’s shoes!
there is no doubt about it!
Such a sexy, loving write – very cool, my friend! K
it was actually prompted by another blogster – I had fun writing it, thanks so much, K!
Loved the little touch of “sexy” in this one and also the fun disco age, which I remember…ouch! Oh well, it is what it is! I really liked this one, too, John! đŸ™‚
Not sure how I missed this comment, Lauren – better late than never to say thanks so much! Happy holidays to you and your family!
No worries, John! It happens to the best of us! đŸ˜‰ And wishing you the same this holiday season!
A feminine version of “Walking in Memphis”
What a great compliment – thank you, Melanie!
