change in forecast
we talked about the weather
how it would destroy us all
how it would appear out of nowhere
and blow away our dreams
just when everything seemed
to be falling into place
we spent hours catching up on time
that never really belonged to us
that somehow tricked us into thinking
seasons forever cycle
in the end all we could talk about
was the weather
and then we went our separate ways

lovely in a sad, way. Also, cynical. and somewhat evasive in its tagging. I’m going to be a little obnoxious and suggest a couple adds: #chances #disappointment #clarity #cards-at-hand. I’ll stop at those. I dont’ think I can stand myself being more obnoxious than this. 🙂
thanks for the read and comments ;`)
what about #cynical?
haha. I don’t know that we should tag the tone of the poem, should we? Otherwise we might as well also say #story-tellingly-invitational , etc. Then the reader might say, “wait a minute, we’re supposed to figure that out, ourselves… ” Wait, J, am I making too much trouble? I should’ve just been a tabloid writer, instead. 🙂
I wouldn’t have thought it was cynical. Pessimistic, even desperate, yes.
Well, now that you mention it…thanks Mr. Skele!
Hmmm…should we comment about the tags or the poem? I’ll do both, tagging it #clever for turning a common expression on its head. Sadly, talking about the weather has a new meaning these days, and is anything but commonplace here. We’ll done!
Thanks so much, Kat – and many thanks for revisiting and commenting here. Some relationships are exactly like the weather ;`)
I like the space you’ve created here. It’s always a treat when I stop by! 🙂
ahhh but we are not fair weather friends – smiles – I liked especially the second stanza – spent hours catching up on time….. – very cool! K
we’ve no time for fair weather friends, K – thank you so much for being here ;`)
it is always my great pleasure to read your wonderful poems, John- K
First two lines make a great opener for a novel. Great work, J!
that would be cool wouldn’t it – hmm – thank you Ms Ho
Nicely done!
Thanks so much, Lola!
