counting sheep
the rain is too much
preventing the last two doves from
locating the wayward ark
turkey vultures soaring undetected
circling high above singletary shepherds
determined and confident in their ability
to overcome the landscape
and account for every single lamb
entrusted to them by the good lord
march two thousand eighteen

Oh, this is an insanely beautiful piece. Literally. I read it about 5 times because it gave me such outstanding visuals in my head. My only suggestion (if you’re open to them) is the audio reading felt a little flat. Perhaps that is tone with which the piece was written – in which case it’s perfect. But if not, you might want to work on having a little more mood. That isn’t a criticism, just gentle feedback. I so enjoyed hearing you read this lovely poem. Bravo!
Thank you so much for enjoying my poem and providing me with your feedback, it is greatly appreciated. I do enjoy reading your poetry as well. Have a lovely evening.
The pleasure was all mine!
This was a beautiful experience. I felt both a sense of despair and of tenacious hope simultaneously when I read this. It speaks volumes about the human experience to me within the span of a concise poem. Thank you for sharing!
