when the wind is so strong

you ask me where I’ve gone
and I say I’ve always been here
even after passing on

I’m more than pretending I’m this
perennial probability
though sometimes I skip a year
and it is then you momentarily
forget all about me

don’t worry I say
I’ve not gone anywhere
always have I been both below
and above the earth
sometimes in full bloom
sometimes scattering seeds
sometimes fast asleep

when the wind is so strong
making you wonder if it’s just air
brushing up against your cheek
that is when you should think again

  1. I absolutely love this.

  2. Blindsided by dead people. Happens to me all the time. Great poem!
