the tour guide
she gave me the proper motivation
to grasp what I would soon witness
as if seat-belted into a time machine
the dial turning counterclockwise
two & four & eight revolutions ago
landing in a sea of historical relevance
I nod my head & respond confidently
that I am good to go
good to go

I like the idea of traveling counterclockwise.
especially this day and age
This has got great rhythm to it. I really enjoyed this!
Thanks so much, Tara!
John, your writing is wonderful, but how can you write so often? I’m jealous. 🙂 Your muse is amazing!
Thanks for saying so, Lauren. Past couple of years I’ve committed to writing poetry on a near daily basis, making it part of my daily routine. It’s both an escape and a challenge for me!
That’s a great goal and challenge, and you’ve mastered it well. I read Stephen King’s memoir on writing and one piece of advice he emphasized was to write every day.
