Homeschooling
I must have been an early teen
my mother being pissed
I hadn’t heard of Appomattox
a battle having occurred
over 100 years prior
If they had taught me at school
I either didn’t pay attention
or couldn’t remember
and being a child with virtually
no constitutional rights
I elected not to plead the fifth
Why the subject arose
in the first place
I’ve no recollection Senator
but what I want to know is
[to this very day]
why she never bothered
to take the time [that day]
to teach her child a lesson
