cheap sunglasses

everything went dark
we searched on hands & knees
calling out to a god
who could not hear us

it was as if the sun
had imploded
opening up a portal
of mass starlight
reigning both day & night

none was close enough
to illuminate the moon
and all the earthworms
emerged & glowed
blue & orange

january two thousand twenty-two
