egg tempera

there is emotion in your thoughts
and in your dreams
but once awake you are drained
finding yourself wondering
how to start all over again

and so you put on blue jeans
make your way into the kitchen
crack open egg atop butter
melting on hot pan
white and yolk taking over flat surface
like a still life painting
or watercolor
hanging on studio wall

soon thereafter emotions
creep back into your thoughts
rejuvenated by a paltry life
that simply wasn’t meant to be

impressionist painting

It’s hard to think in third person
outside the skin and looking in
switching sides
like patient operating on surgeon
like flower attacking honeybee
like an old school artist suddenly
becoming an impressionist

I put the old brushes aside
and started understanding ocean
waves in a brand new light
accepting how shadows evolve
and reveal welcomed realities
unfolding before my very eyes

color my world

an empty canvas in an otherwise
empty world
suspended above sands
washed clean by the hands of the moon
time after countless time

the artist is nowhere to be found
perhaps adrift at sea
in search of something unforeseen
paint brushes and palette
at rest on three-legged easel

what is lost will one day be found
the artist and canvas
reunited when least expected
bringing back color
to an otherwise empty world

your poem

I burned your image
in my mind
like charcoal lead
on cottony white paper

I painted your eyes
on canvas
like I had known them
my entire life

I drew your heart
closer to mine
beating rhythmically
as if we were one
