poetry by j matthew waters

i am third

i am the bird
alone on a wire
listening to the wind
and waiting
for something to die

i am the wind
blowing from the east
bringing fresh air
to a flower
for better days

i am the sunrise
on a cloudless morning
burning the sky
with intensity
and promising
life after life

december two thousand eleven

  2. small and beautiful.
can i know how you put the audio in the post? Bought the feature?

  3. I really like the flow and the simplicity of the words. Lovely.

  4. There are some lovely things here

  5. I really like how you have maintained a great sense of simplicity, while matching it up with stark imagery. Also, a hint of Leonard Cohen in the first verse?

    Nice work here.

  6. I really like this. I especially like the addition of the audio. It’s always nice to hear someone read their own work.

  7. Lovely John. I find your poetry quite visual
