broken

world is broken in so many ways
though weapons are working
perfectly fine
precisely hitting
ordinary targets deemed
to be harboring
neither aspiration nor dream

we’ve heard this story retold
ad nauseam
seen it played out in theater
(time and again)
two-bit actors slaughtering
their lines as directed by
apocalyptic producers
feeding on senselessness

  1. Fantastic imagery, J! The world is an incomplete jigsaw puzzle.

  2. It’s hard to mend what’s broken with precision blasts that break apart—

  3. The only thing that has changed is that the technology has become more efficient at slaughter. Well writ.

  4. Yes, at destruction we are working fine.

This would be a welcome submission to A4P…I know…just nudging 🙂
