taking advantage
this never gets easy
this guessing game with no
real answers
written on the back of cards
how many times do I
just get in the car
looking for something
that doesn’t exist
how many times do I
open a door
just because I think
somebody is knocking
that thing around the corner
it’s pretty fucking scary
some of the time
and sometimes it’s more than scary
and that’s when you understand
just how alive you really are
so I hear this weekend is
supposed to be super nice
I suppose I should take advantage
of the situation while I still can

Another smash!
thank you D.J. – this one seemed to have come out of nowhere
Loved your first verse. “Real answers written on the back of cards.” Our personal worlds can be scary and full of unknowns. Wonderful poetic words describing ‘life.’ All you can do is enjoy some moments. Glad you’re getting nice weather.
thank you so much, Olga…for reading and responding – here’s to ‘life’
Cheers to the life force! 🙂
It is super scary that thing around the corner…keeps poking its damn head out to say boo! Can totally relate to this poem…well done!
Thank you for commenting on this poem, Dianne.
Yes, you damn well should! I always enjoy your poems. So therapeutic and honest.
Thank you very much, I’m so glad you think so. 😀
