children without smartphones

homeless little ones
fill the city square
walking aimlessly and unsupervised
staring into the palms of their hands
slaying pokémon dragons with
whatever imagination
they can get their hands on

  1. Powerful imagery, John. Well done.

  2. Since kids are encapsulated in their own little universe with these devices held in their hands they really are homeless in a sense. Kids don’t make things with their hands anymore. No projects, arts and crafts and such. Those are things that create imagination and creativity and even satisfaction not slaying dragons on a little screen. Thanks for your recent visit to my blog.

  3. Love this John, very relevant for this time too! There’s way too much staring into our palms these days. Phones are great, but obsessions with phones and games…so glad I’ve not been sucked in – yet! 😉

  4. At least they are outside walking…
