blackbirds biding their time

twilighty on an october evening
cats a’meowing and quiet moon
maybe making an appearance

I’ve seen you in this race before
maybe it was ten years ago
or maybe it was yesterday

these pockmarks on my cheeks
they don’t mean a thing
I regret you ever saw them

those moons we rarely see
orbiting worlds we barely know
absolutely belong here

and why you decided to go
long before your time
has everything to do with them

  1. I get goosebumps when I read all your work. Great Great Great work!

  2. Wonderful… i feel like I want to wait for the moon too.

  3. I really love the way you have included the audio for your poem here too. This adds so much to your post and you have inspired me to do the same as my partner Andy has just bought me a microphone. Thanks for sharing! I have a poetry blog here on WordPress and today’s poem features a blackbird in case you have time to look? Have a relaxing weekend, Sam 🙂
