April Sunrise

I shall miss you and pray to revisit another day

These past thirty evenings have given me pause
as I come to terms with my own lunatic thoughts
constantly giving chase to fleeting ideas
circling the globe in unpredictable fashion

I’ve decided competition is less important
than respectfully counting your blessings
and if you learn to start your day in earnest
you may discover endless sunrises to worship

  1. Great job on writing 30 poems in 30 days, John! I only wrote about 15, so you beat me, haha. 😊

    • haha I’m pretty sure we weren’t keeping score, Loredana, but many thanks. It was the fifth time in the past 12 months I’ve posted a poem every day…poetry seems to keep me going these days. xo

I’ve enjoyed the 30 days of reading! Excellent work πŸ™‚

  3. The writing of a poem a day is easy enough but to write to a specific prompt…now that was a challenge for me. Some of them felt like school homework.

  4. Love the last verse, John. Positive mantra for each day. πŸ™‚
