poetry by j matthew waters

when rooted with good intentions

there is much energy left in the sun
you can feel it even on cloudy days

I may have lost a step but not my mind
researching the history of the stars
in relation to the aging process

a balance exists between the here and now
between affairs public and private
and otherwise outer worldly ideals

where oh where did you go my love
when I was awaiting to be born again
exploding with effortless abandon

may two thousand nineteen
