something borrowed & blue

the bluebells were transplanted
long ago & they’ve been through
their ups & downs

you could say they were borrowed
and never returned
living & dying lo these many years
sometimes posing
other times shying away
as if not caring to be seen

my little blue kettle

my monday a.m. mood
never surprises me
feeling under the radar
like my little blue kettle

rain falls consistently
hitting window pane
keeping perfect time
like my little blue kettle

off in the distance
passenger train rolls on
sounding off through the fog
like my little blue kettle

morning blue

I love to play the piccolo
just before the birds awaken

my own imagination
enters their waking dreams

before the song is over
and just as the sun starts to smile
trillions of feathers
usher in the morning blue

changing machines

the sun went down
time after time
viewed by synthetic eyes
painted green
computed by plasma minds
learning to change the mood
from elation to blue

the streets disappeared
beneath the earth
giving rise to urban wasteland
man-made armies
evolving into superior thinkers
soon to problem solve
the world’s surrender
