imperfect papers

when they wired this one
there was no ground
it was either lights on
or lights out

she told me if I wanted

shaking my head
I explained how I needed
to move on after
losing Rosie last month

buckling her replacement
into my hatchback
I hoped to regain
what efficiency I had lost

time after time
viewed by synthetic eyes
painted green
computed by plasma minds
learning to change the mood

beneath the earth
giving rise to urban wasteland
man-made armies
evolving into superior thinkers
soon to problem solve
the world’s surrender

throughout the entire framework
of contemporary tin men
